Jobber vs Housecall Pro (2026): Which Is Cheaper for Your Crew Size?
Based on official pricing pages, product documentation and public owner feedback. We have not run a hands-on trial for this page yet. How we review
On this page
Short answer
- Solo operators: Jobber is cheaper. Core is $29/mo billed annually, half of Housecall Pro Basic’s $59/mo.
- Crews of 2–5: Housecall Pro Essentials gets the edge. It costs the same $149/mo as Jobber’s 5-user Connect tier on annual billing, and it adds routes, GPS tracking, job costing and consumer financing. Jobber Connect’s advantage is automated reminders and quote follow-ups.
- Month-to-month: Housecall Pro’s premium for skipping annual billing is smaller across the board.
Both apps cover the basics every home-service business needs: quotes, scheduling, invoicing, online payments and a mobile app for the crew. The real differences are how much you pay at your team size and which plan unlocks the feature you care about. This page is built around those two questions.
What you’ll actually pay, by crew size
Both vendors advertise their annual-billing prices. Jobber also runs a first-year promo on annual prepay, which we show separately because it renews at the higher regular rate.
| Compared on | Jobber | Housecall Pro |
|---|---|---|
| Solo, annual billing | Core: $29/mo ($21 first-year promo) | Basic: $59/mo |
| Solo, month-to-month | Core: $49/mo | Basic: $79/mo |
| 5 users, annual billing | Connect: $149/mo · Grow: $229/mo | Essentials: $149/mo |
| 5 users, month-to-month | Connect: $199/mo · Grow: $299/mo | Essentials: $189/mo |
| 8 users, annual billing | 10-user tier: Connect $229/mo · Grow $299/mo | Max: $299/mo |
| Adding people | $29/mo per extra user | $35/mo per extra user (Max) |
| Card processing | 2.9% + 30¢ (1% for US bank payments) | "As low as 2.59%" |
Two things stand out:
- Jobber’s monthly-vs-annual gap is large. Core costs 69% more month-to-month ($49 vs $29), and Connect costs 40% more ($139 vs $99). One r/CRM thread titled “Is Jobber a scam CRM?” boils down to exactly this. The replies conclude Jobber is a mid-priced product, but that the annual-versus-monthly pricing and the payment fees aren’t communicated clearly. Budget with the price you’ll actually pay, not the headline.
- Payment fees matter as much as the subscription. If you invoice $20,000 a month by card, a 0.3-point difference in processing is about $60 a month, more than the gap between many plans. Housecall Pro only publishes an “as low as” rate, so ask for your real rate before you commit.
Features that differ by plan
The feature lists overlap heavily. These are the differences that change which plan you need:
| Compared on | Jobber | Housecall Pro |
|---|---|---|
| Job costing | Grow plan and up | Every plan (Basic and up) |
| Consumer financing | Not listed on pricing page | Every plan |
| Price book / flat-rate pricing | Not listed | Price book on Basic; flat-rate on Essentials |
| Automated reminders & quote follow-ups | Connect and up | Checklist automations on Essentials; marketing campaigns are an add-on |
| QuickBooks Online sync | Connect and up | Essentials and up |
| Routes / route optimization | Listed, plan not specified | Routes on Essentials; optimization on Max |
| Employee GPS tracking | Not listed | Essentials and up |
| Two-way texting | Grow and up | Via add-ons |
| Website | Included from Core | Paid add-on |
| AI receptionist | $29/mo add-on (included in Plus) | Add-on (price not published) |
Where Jobber wins: the cheapest entry point, a website included on every plan, and automated quote and invoice follow-ups from the Connect plan. Those follow-ups are the feature most likely to pay for themselves, because unanswered quotes are lost revenue.
Where Housecall Pro wins: more features at lower tiers. Job costing and consumer financing come on the entry plan, and routes and GPS on the 5-user plan. If you sell larger tickets, such as full exterior packages, built-in financing can close jobs that would otherwise stall on price.

What owners complain about
Neither product has a reputation problem with its core features. The complaints we found are about billing:
- Jobber: confusion between the advertised annual price and the month-to-month price, and card fees adding up. See the r/CRM thread in the sources below.
- Housecall Pro: one r/CRM poster says they were locked into a contract and charged about $1,600 before they noticed. That’s a single account, but it’s a reminder to read the cancellation terms before you choose annual billing.
Our advice is the same for both: use the 14-day trial, then pay monthly for a month or two before you commit to annual billing. The premium you pay for flexibility is cheap insurance against switching costs.
Which one should you choose?
- Choose Jobber if you’re solo or a two-person operation, you want the lowest annual price, and you value automated follow-ups and a built-in website.
- Choose Housecall Pro if you’re running or building a crew of 3–8, you want routes and GPS without a top-tier plan, or your customers would use financing.
- Consider neither if you mainly quote exterior cleaning from measurements. A quoting-first tool like QuoteIQ may fit better. For recurring route work like pest control or lawn treatments, look at GorillaDesk.
