Our verdict

Housecall Pro gives you more features per dollar at its lower tiers than most rivals. Job costing and consumer financing come on Basic, and routes, GPS tracking and QuickBooks sync on Essentials. That makes Essentials ($149/mo annual, up to 5 users) one of the better-value plans for a growing crew. Solo operators on a tight budget will find it pricier than Jobber, and many add-ons don’t have published prices.

What Housecall Pro is

Housecall Pro is all-in-one field service software for residential trades, from cleaning and lawn care to HVAC and plumbing. Its plans are built around team size: 1 user, up to 5, up to 8. Every plan includes live phone and chat support and the mobile apps.

  • Free trial: 14 days, no credit card (Max plan features)
  • Extra users: $35/mo per added user on Max

  • Paid add-ons: AI CSR; Pipeline; Payroll; Accounting; Voice; Marketing campaigns; Vehicle GPS / dashcams; Websites (add-on prices not published)

The month-to-month premium is smaller than at some competitors: Essentials is $189 vs $149 annual (27% more), and Max is $329 vs $299 (10% more). That makes it more reasonable to start month-to-month and switch to annual once you’re sure.

Which plan fits

  • Basic ($59/mo annual): one user. The standout is that job costing and consumer financing are included, which most competitors charge more for. Good for a solo operator selling bigger tickets.
  • Essentials ($149/mo annual): up to five users, plus routes, flat-rate pricing, employee GPS tracking, commissions, checklist automations and QuickBooks Online sync. This is the sweet spot for a crew of 2–5.
  • Max ($299/mo annual): up to eight users, plus route optimization, recurring service plans, a sales proposal tool, API access and dedicated onboarding. Recurring service plans matter for maintenance-style businesses like lawn programs or quarterly cleanings.

Costs that aren’t on the price list

The pricing page lists add-ons for AI CSR, Pipeline, Payroll, Accounting, Voice, marketing Campaigns, vehicle GPS and dashcams, and Websites, without prices. Card processing is advertised as “as low as 2.59%”. Before you sign, ask sales for written prices on every add-on you’ll use and your actual processing rate.

What works

  • Job costing and consumer financing on the entry plan
  • Essentials packs routes, GPS, flat-rate pricing and QuickBooks sync into a 5-user plan
  • Smaller month-to-month premium than some rivals
  • Live phone and chat support on every plan
  • G2 reviewers rate it highly for ease of use and onboarding staff

What doesn't

  • Basic costs about twice Jobber Core for a solo operator on annual billing
  • Many add-ons have no published price
  • Route optimization is reserved for Max ($299/mo annual)
  • Some owners report billing disputes after committing to annual plans

A note on contracts

One r/CRM poster titled their thread “House call pro stay away”. They say they were locked into a contract and charged about $1,600 before they caught it. We can’t verify individual cases. The safe approach applies to any vendor: run the free trial, pay month-to-month for a month or two, and read the cancellation terms before you choose annual billing.

Who should pick something else

  • Solo operators watching every dollar: Jobber Core is $29/mo annual. See our head-to-head comparison.
  • Exterior cleaning businesses that quote by square footage: QuoteIQ is built around measuring and quoting.
  • Route-based recurring service: GorillaDesk charges per route, with unlimited office users.

FAQ

How much is Housecall Pro per month?

Billed annually: Basic $59/mo (1 user), Essentials $149/mo (up to 5 users), Max $299/mo (up to 8 users). Month-to-month: $79, $189 and $329. Extra users on Max are $35/mo each.

Does Housecall Pro have a contract?

Annual billing is a 12-month commitment. Month-to-month plans cost more but let you leave. Read the cancellation terms before you choose annual billing.

Is Housecall Pro good for a solo operator?

It works, but Basic ($59/mo annual) costs about twice Jobber Core ($29/mo annual). It's worth the premium mainly if you want job costing or consumer financing from day one.
